Alaskan Cruise: Juneau, Alaska

On Tuesday (the 11th of August) we arrived at our second port, Juneau, Alaska. It was a gorgeous day and it was a cool little town. We spent some time shopping around for a hour or so before getting ready to go on our excursion. We decided that it was good that we planned excursions otherwise we would get pretty bored of shopping after a few hours, that is all there is really to do without taking other transportation anywhere else.

Juneau is Alaska's Capital City, not a very big Capital City but still very neat!
Our cruise ship, so hard to get the whole boat in one shot.

Matthew and by a stuffed moose :)
Matthew and I unloading our things that we bought before taking off on our excursion (Juneau in the background from our deck!).
We decided to take the Mendenhall Glacier Float Trip. We were told it was mild white water rafting and it was EXTREMELY mild, too mild! But it was absolutely gorgeous on the river so we got to see a lot of beautiful nature and some wildlife!
Mendenhall Glacier, doesn't look big but once again it is huge!
Matthew and I in the raft getting ready to go! We got to wear these very attractive waterproof suits and boots along with this fashionable life jacket. In other words, we looked awesome and stayed very dry!
An iceberg . . . very cool!
Another shot of the Mendenhall Glacier
And another one
On our rafting trip we floated right past a bald eagle on a tree, it was super close to us! Apparently Alaska has 1/3 of the population of Bald Eagles in the entire world!
After our float trip . . . we had a lot of fun! Here is a shot of all our gear!
That is the boat we road on along with our guide.
After we got back from the Glacier, we still had a lot of time so we took the tram to the top of Mt. Roberts. This was by far our favorite thing that we did on the trip, it was absolutely gorgeous up there and we were able to do some hiking since the weather was beautiful!
Here is one of the cars.
Our ship from the top of the mountain!
Matthew and I doing one of our famous "take our own" pictures, we have become pros at them and we always seem to stand on the same side :)!
Matthew and I with the Mendenhall Valley below us!

On our hike we had to stop and get a picture since it was such an amazing view!
Notice in the right hand corner there is a cross . . . we have one of those on top of one of the foothills in Azusa so we had to take a picture plus it was a gorgeous view!
Matthew and I with another great view!
They had such cool wild flowers up there!
We even got to see a Black Bear, that was so awesome, I was beginning to feel like we weren't seeing a whole lot of wildlife so I was pleasantly surprised to see a bear!
More of the views . . .
and more :)!
A view of Juneau from the top of the mountain!
Leaving Juneau out into the open waters.
Ready for another fancy dinner!
We really enjoyed our day building so many great memories and experiencing this beautiful state, we were sad that this was going to be our last stop in Alaska! However, we were starting to miss Cayden with only a few days left to go!
