Sleep!!

Great news! Cayden slept for 6 hours straight last night . . . so exciting! When he started to cry at 5:00 am, I had to look at the clock a couple of times because it was quite shocking. I was expecting to see 2:00 am. So I don't know if this will start to be a regular thing or not, but I'll take what I can get and I know that he can do it now!
This past week we had my sister, Natasha here for the week. It was nice to have an extra set of hands and finally introduce Cayden to her. She got to experience what my daily activities are, especially since it was raining most of the time she was here so we stayed in a lot. We did get to go to Knotts Berry Farm on Saturday with Matthew and my brother, Brett. Although it rained some, we had fun. We had to take turns watching Cayden while three of us went on a ride. Cayden did wonderful the whole day!
I leave tomorrow for Spokane, Wa where my dad's basketball team made it to state. I will be spending the next four days watching basketball and then we will drive back to Seattle for a couple of days so I can visit with some of my friends. I am looking forward to getting out of the house for awhile although I am really going to miss Matthew. He is going to spend the next week and a half doing lots of homework and studying. It will be nice for him to have some peace and quite especially since he has midterms this week.
We just pray that Cayden does well on his first airplane trip. I am a little nervous but we will see how it goes. I will try to keep updating over the next week and post some new pictures soon. Hope everyone has a great week!

Update

I know it has been awhile since I have written an update on life in Azusa. Things have been going pretty well. We are now beginning to get the hang of things with Cayden. He is getting more on a schedule and he is taking longer between feedings (3 hours!) which is a great blessing. At night time he usually sleeps for four hours, eats, three hours, eats, three hours, eats and wakes up for the day. Our prayer every night is that he begins to sleep longer :)! He is starting to smile at us a little bit which is a lot of fun. Last night when we went to Bible study our friends Janna and Troy babysat him for a couple of hours. That was a huge blessing to be able to have a few hours to ourselves and not have to worry about Cayden during the Bible study.
Matthew had a lighter week last week as his classes were cancelled due to a conference he had to attend. This was awesome to have him around more! As you can see, Matthew can now carry Cayden around whenever he wants and still have his hands free. We think this baby carrier will come in handy when we go on walks and when we go on vacations. We'll let you know.
I had my check up last week and the doctor said that everything looks good and that this coming Wednesday I can start doing normal things (although I have already been doing housework, etc for awhile now) as it will be six weeks this Wednesday . . . crazy!
But now this week we are looking forward to having my sister, Natasha come for the week to meet Cayden. It will be nice to have someone around to keep Cayden and I company as Matthew is back in the full swing of things. Praying everyone has a good week!

A boy's slumber party . . . the gift of sleep!

Yesterday Matthew decided to give me a great present . . . sleep. He decided that he and Cayden would sleep in the living room and have a slumber party and let me have almost a full night of sleep. So he set up the air mattress and all of Cayden's things and I slept in the room. We had enough bottles in the fridge so I didn't even have to feed Cayden! I had to set my alarm so that I could wake up and pump, but that is easy and only takes minutes so I was back to sleep in no time. This was the best night of sleep I have had in over a month and I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband! Hopefully tonight goes well as we go back to our "routine". Check out our smugmug to see our first video posting of Cayden and his rattles!

My apologies!

After looking at the pictures on our smugmug site thouroughly, I realized how horrible I look in every single picture (I look so tired). So please ignore all these pictures of me and only look at the pictures of Cayden. At least he has a lot of cute pictures to make up for mine :)!

One bit of good news is that last night Cayden slept for 4 1/2 hours straight and woke up to eat and then 4 hours later. This was awesome as it had been every couple of hours, so hopefully this continues! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

One Month!

As of today Cayden is a month old! The past few weeks have gone by really quickly and has definitely been an adjustment time for each of us. Most of our family has been here, in a couple of weeks my sister will be coming and that will end the steady stream of people visiting for awhile. We have had a lot of fun introducing Cayden to all our family members. Now we are back to "normal" life (I don't really know what is normal anymore). I am learning how to be a stay at home mom and working on a more normal schedule for Cayden. Matthew is able to get back in the swing of things with school and staying very busy. It is nice that Matthew has a couple of breaks throughout the day so that he can come home and keep me company.

We had a doctor's appointment yesterday because we thought that Cayden may have thrush but thankfully he does not and is still very healthy. He now weighs 9 pounds 3 oz and is still 22 inches long. I can definitely tell that he is growing since he is growing out of his newborn clothes and is getting heavier. We have updated our smugmug and posted a whole bunch of new pictures, so feel free to check that out if you want. The link is still posted below under "Introducing Cayden Matthew De Haan".
