"Firsts"

First time trying to throw something away,
It was his shoes.
First time finger painting (with mommy's help),
the paint got on my face, on my shirt, and in my hair!
First time throwing a 21st birthday party! Happy Birthday Uncle Brett!
First time "brushing" my teeth or just biting on the toothbrush.
First time watching the rain at home!
Finally some "winter" weather!
First of many holes in my socks.
First Thanksgiving!

So much to be thankful for!

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving everyone! Hope everyone had a great day!

Our Smart Baby

Last night I found a water bottle under the couch so I thought I would let Cayden play with it. So Cayden started to play with it but then came over to where I was and threw it down at me and started to cry. Hmmm interesting so I gave it back to him. Again he came back to me and threw the water bottle down at me and started to cry. So once again I gave him back the water bottle. He came right back to me and threw the bottle at me and started to cry. So this time I took off the cap and he opened his mouth. I didn't want to give him that water so I got his water and he drank a lot. I guess he was thirsty and wanted me to know that :)!

Matthew-less in Seattle!

Cayden and I took a trip to Seattle for a week so that Matthew was able to have some "quiet" time to get a lot of homework done. Cayden did not do that great on the airplane but I managed to get a picture of him smiling on the plane. Let's just say that the last 20 minutes of the plane ride to Seattle Cayden spent his time screaming and then fell asleep as the plane touched the ground. Go figure.
Cayden was the center of attention for the whole week and he really enjoyed spending time with Grandpa De Yager playing with his toys (wow, my mom kept a lot of toys from back in my day . . . good job mom!).
The window in their living room is the perfect height for him to look out at all the rain! This meant that we were able to take some of those tags off of Cayden's long sleeved clothes so he could finally wear them!
Cayden's favorite thing to eat was Grandma's cinnamon roll . . . not a good decision to start feeding him those because one day that is all he would eat, not cool!
I think our little boy is going to be a piano player, he loved it! He definitely loves music!
Just a cute picture of him watching Praise Baby with Grandma.
So Cayden loves to be in the car but not strapped in his car seat. So when Uncle Shaun brought him out to his car he had a blast playing.
I think he was getting pretty tired here and Aunt Natasha was trying to calm him down after all the action. There is always a lot of ACTION when Cayden is involved and has an audience.
So we tried out Cayden's new shoes again and this time was a little bit more successful because he was preoccupied with playing with Grandpa and Grandma and the soccer ball.
At Uncle Shaun and Aunt Courtney's house he was obsessed with going up and down the stairs over and over and over again.
Oh and then there was the railing which he could fit his entire body through. Aunt Courtney was trying to block him from falling through.
I think this will be on my parent's Christmas card, but it was a nice picture of all three of them!

We had a lot of fun seeing lots of family and friends and getting a break from the unwanted heat back here. It was 90 degrees when we came back on Monday. Ridiculous since it is November!! It was nice to come back and see Matthew and he was able to get a lot of homework done so we are so proud of him! It is almost the end of the semester, time to start the count down!

Our "Baby" Boy is 10 Months Old!

Cayden is officially 10 months old today!! He is growing up so fast, he is hardly a baby anymore. He is having so much fun walking everywhere and loves to be outside. Thank goodness it has finally cooled down a little bit! We have been waiting for that. I recently measured him and weighed him and he is roughly 18 pounds and is about 30 1/2 inches. He is now tall enough to reach everything on the kitchen table (not cool) so we are pretty much watching his every move while we are at home. He also has some crazy hair days when he wakes up from his naps, below are just two of the many examples :)! The first one is from today . . . so cute!
We decided to take him to the park this afternoon for his 10 month birthday. I had this vision of playing nicely at the park and Cayden having a blast but things did not turn out that good. We got him new shoes yesterday and from the minute we put them on he was unhappy. The entire way to the park he was screaming and trying to take them off. So once we got to the park he was so worked up that it took us some time to calm him down and tried to get him into playing but he still wasn't too happy about the shoes. So we walked around a little bit and I swung with him for awhile and then it was over. My good idea failed and now we will have to work on getting him used to his shoes before trying the park again!

Notice the new shoes they are adorable, hopefully he will like them soon! Happy 10 month birthday Cayden, we love you!

Trick or Treat

Here was our first attempt at going trick or treating. On Friday, we dressed Cayden up as a lion and went trick or treating with some friends at APU. One of the dorm halls had an event going on for families so it was the perfect place to take Cayden trick or treating (although I don't think he even cared)! We only got a few pictures of his actually smiling because he was an angry lion that night and needed to go to bed! All and all we had a good night and we think it will be a lot more fun when he actually cares :)!

Cayden hated wearing the hat of his costume and wasn't happy until he ripped it off. So it was off pretty much the whole night, bummer!
Trick or treating at APU

Our friend Troy who is an RD at APU.
Janna and I
We discovered today that time changes are not good for babies and had a tough day with Cayden and his schedule being thrown off not to mention it is church day and that makes it a rough day already. Here is Daddy rocking Cayden trying to get him sleepy, we thought it would work.
Here is Cayden when I put him in bed hoping he would just fall asleep like normal. Oh and Cayden's name was just put up last week.
A couple minutes later I found him like this (sorry for the blurry picture).
And then I found him pacing his bed (notice the bite marks all over his crib, I am not happy about that!). Needless to say we took him out of bed for awhile and then put him back in awhile later and had to let him cry himself to sleep. So he had about one, one hour nap today. What a long day!!!

We hope for a better day tomorrow with the sleep schedule!!!
