We Made It!

Well we had a very eventful trip to Seattle and it wasn't a happy one. On Wednesday we got to LAX around 5 pm. At that point everything was on time and we made it to the gate and were just waiting. Then they delayed the flight 2 hours. O.k. so at least we will still get out tonight . . . they kept delaying it and finally around 10 they announced that our plane had landed but there was no crew to fly us to Seattle and if they couldn't find one in 5 mins. they flight would be cancelled. So . . . the flight was cancelled-so frustrating!!! They told us that they would re-book everyone for the morning and that they would put us up in a hotel. So we were thinking that it was good that we could at least go to a hotel and get a little bit of sleep but then we found out that the hotel was in Pomona which is almost an hour away so that didn't make sense and at that point we might have just gone back home. So we called our friends Matt and Tara who live closer to the airport and they were awesome and let us stay there. We got about a total of four hours of sleep before we had to go back to the airport and get on the plane. We must say that Cayden did awesome under the circumstances but when we got here really needed to make up for the lack of sleep he had gotten. So in total it took us almost 20 hours to get to Seattle instead of 2 and all this was thanks to Delta. Not a fun experience but we are glad to finally be here with family and friends!!

And We're Off!

The past couple days have been busy as we prepared to leave for Seattle. Along with watching the Olympics (every night tile after midnight) we were able to spend some time with friends. For the opening ceremonies we had Matt and Tara Schurring over. That was one very cool opening ceremony. Unbelievable at times! Then on Sunday we saw some of our good college friends from Sioux Falls, SD. Seth and Tiffany and their son, Matthew were visiting her sister in Ontario. So after church on Sunday we were able to go out for dinner with them and hang out for awhile. It is always so nice to see familiar faces and catch up! Cayden and Matthew (baby) had fun catching up as they both wanted to grab each other's faces and eat each other. So funny!!!
Oh, here is Cayden's newest obsession: watching the washer and dryer. Strange, but it keeps him occupied for a little bit!
Now we are taking off til the end of August so we are looking forward to a break from the heat and seeing lots of family and friends!!!

7 Months Old!!

Cayden is now 7 months old! CRAZY!!! The time just keeps flying by and it only becomes more fun as he continues to develop that little personality of his. Now that he has discovered crawling, he has more energy than ever. I can't keep up with his energy and am thankful sometimes when he goes down for a nap so that I can rest too :)!! Besides crawling, Cayden pulls himself up on furniture and then lets go, looks around to see if anyone is going to catch him and then ends up falling. This kid wants to walk!!
He is consistently eating solid foods (stage one foods) but is so interested in our food that doesn't always like to eat his own. We try to give him oatmeal in the morning with a little fruit. For lunch and dinner he likes squash, carrots, or sweet potatoes. We have been trying fruit too but he is not near as interested in that!
One other great thing that Cayden likes to do now is to watch Praise Baby DVD! YES!!!! He will actually sit there and watch almost the whole DVD. This is a great thing. We usually allow him to watch the DVD before he goes to bed to calm him down a little. So far it seems to work.

As for the teeth situation, I think he is soooo close to getting one it is kind of painful to watch. He just bites so hard on anything he can put in his mouth. Baby tylenol has been our friend recently!Poor guy. It will be nice when they start coming in.
Cayden has become quite the social type. He loves meeting new people (especially other kids). He loves to be outside and play on the grass and try to enjoy the sunshine (when it isn't 100 degrees out)! It will be interesting to see if he continues to be this social or not!

After a busy day of playing. Cayden likes to go to bed between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm. This is always a nice time for us to relax and get ready for the next day!!
