The next day we went downtown where we walked along the river walk, saw the Alamo, and went up to the top of the Tower of the Americas. It was cool to see another city up close and personal. The final day was a little more relaxed as we did some casual shopping and miniature golfing at night. It was nice to have a little more relaxed day as we knew we would be traveling again the next day.
Grandpa De Haan and Cayden exhausted after a day on the town.
So as we were trying to fly back to Des Moines, IA our plane out of San Antonio got delayed on the way to Houston, and then we got to Houston and found out that all flights to Des Moines were cancelled. Thankfully we were able to get re-routed to Omaha, NE where Matthew's parents were flying into but the bummer was that it did not leave until 11 pm arriving at 2 am. When we arrived in Omaha, our luggage did not come with us so we left Omaha around 2:30 am and got to Pella at 5 am. What an exhausting day! Cayden was definitely a trooper through everything!
The rest of our trip was spent visiting lots of family and friends. It was fun to catch up with so many people. It makes us thankful for the friendships we have developed and how after a few years we can still pick up from where we left off.
Cayden meeting Bret, Kristi, Katie and Kyle
Cayden was able to spend his first Easter in Pella although half of the church service was spent in the basement eating :)! We had a good time spending time with Matthew's family and we know they loved having Cayden around!
Happy Easter!

We came home and Matthew had to get right back into the swing of things at school. I had to attempt to put Cayden back on a schedule and I finally feel that after a week, we are almost there. Cayden and I enjoyed going on a walk with my friend Janna and our little day trip down to San Diego to visit some friends.
The weekend was busier than expected. On Friday night we hung out with some friends (Matthew and Tara). While we were there, Cayden was on the floor while we were eating and he rolled over from his back to his stomach! IT is so much fin to see these milestones happen as he is getting older. Saturday was very busy as we went to Palm Springs for the Walk for Autism (with my old company). We were able to get in a good three mile walk and see all of my old co-workers and some of my old clients. It was fun and the weather was beautiful! We came back home and a couple of hours later left for the Padres-Angels game in Anaheim with some friends from our church (Matt and Robyn). This was Cayden's first of many Padre's games. Even though they got creamed by the Angels it was still a lot of fun. On Sunday, Matthew and I went to Bible study while Uncle Brett watched Cayden. He did a great job and we feel blessed that he was able to watch him for us.
Now this week is a little more laid back which is good for all of us. Matthew is finishing up the semester in the next couple of weeks so then we will have another change of schedule as he starts the summer term in May. Man, it never ends and Matthew is doing an awesome job. He does such a great job of balancing school work and spending time with Cayden and I. I am very thankful for him and the wonderful father he is to Cayden. Cayden lights up when he sees daddy come home, so this is very fun to watch. Well, our smugmug is updated with the new photos from our vaction if you want to check it out! Hopefully I can stay on top of the posts from now on!
