Nolan Jaycob De Haan was born on May 5, 2011 at 3:12 pm, weighing 7 lbs 6 oz and was 21 inches long! We are thrilled to welcome him to our family and love him to pieces already! What a wonderful blessing from God and He continues to prove His faithfulness through the birth of Nolan!
On to the birth story: On Wednesday the 4th (Nolan's actual due date) I started to have contractions in the afternoon that were pretty regular but not super strong. At first they were 20 minutes apart, then moved to 15 minutes apart, 10 minutes apart, 8 minutes apart, and finally at 1:00 am they were consistently 4 minutes apart and pretty intense. So we called the hospital and they told us to come on in. When the doctor checked me to see how far I was dilated she was at 3.5 cm and were unwilling to admit me to the hospital until I was 4 cm. I had the option of going home or walking the halls for 1-2 hours to see if I was still dilating. At 4:00 am I was checked again and was at 4.5 cm and was admitted to the hospital and got the epidural around 5:30 am! This was a nice relief as we were able to go to sleep for a few hours and get rested up for the hard part :)! Around 10:30 am I was checked and was 8-9 cm and around 12:45 pm I was fully dilated and began laboring. This lasted all the way until 3:12 when Nolan decided to make his grand appearance! This was a huge relief to finally see him and hold him in our arms! After the past few years and the rough times we have been through we just feel blessed to have Nolan in the world and in our family! Praising the Lord for a healthy delivery via VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-Section)! God definitely answered a lot of prayers!! Now for some pictures!
In the Labor and Delivery Room: I love how they had a plan for what was going on :) They were super organized at this hospital and we received the best care!!
