Our Family Time!

The past few weeks have been both good and bad.  It was nice to be home for a few weeks before taking off again.  It was good catching up with friends in the area and spending some time as a family.  When we first got back from vacation, our AC went out and it was about 100 degrees plus outside.  So this meant that it was 90 plus in our house on and off for a week until they finally fixed the problem!  We were very thankful that the AC is back up and running and we now feel very blessed to have AC living in Southern California!!  Also during that time Cayden began teething again and was pretty sick and clingy for about the whole first week.  He was not about the heat so that made bed time rough as well as nap time.  So it was a hectic week all together! But as I said before we had a lot of good family time and a lot of good hanging out with friends!  It has been so nice to have Matthew around all the time, Cayden and I have been spoiled having him around most afternoons and evenings!  Cayden has definitely loved the extra attention from Daddy and they almost always play basketball daily!  Here are some pictures from the past few weeks!

Cayden got a new tricycle thanks to Grandpa and Grandma De Haan . . . it has been more frustrating for him then fun so far, but when he learns, I am sure he will love it!
Look at my new Trike!
Last Sunday, we went to Newport Beach to see the unusually huge waves, they were pretty cool!
One of the waves . . .
Crashing!
Cayden watching the waves from the pier!
Daddy and Cayden watching the waves!
Walking on the pier with Mommy!
Of course Cayden loved the telescope :)!
Cayden was pretty unsure about the sand . . . since it was going in his flip flops . . .
but that didn't stop him . . .
from . . .
throwing it up in the air!!!
Then he realized his hands were dirty, we told him to brush in off, so he brushed it off on his shirt :)!
He thought he was cool for climbing the ladder "by himself" but Daddy had to help him!
He had so much fun!
So now Cayden thinks that it is "safer" to slide down the slide on his tummy . . . what a crazy kid!  He is sometimes way to cautious for me and other times not cautious at all!
Cayden playing basketball . . .  "Oh yeah!"
Cayden often time makes sure that he has his three favorite things by him at all times: basketball, blanket, and pacifier!
Matthew has taken up a new hobby.  After our pizza experience in Chicago, he has decided that he will be making deep dish pizzas from scratch.  So with a lot of research and going to special stores for special ingredients, he has now made two pizzas.  This is the second one, I forgot to take a picture of the first one.  So far he is doing good, two different recipes and two good outcomes!!!
So after 6 months, we decided to try getting Cayden's haircut again.  I think this is the most calm Cayden was the whole haircut . . . with tears still in his eyes!
But believe me, he was a basket case and even ripped off the cape!
Wow!! We have our work cut out for us in the future, hopefully by the time he is 2 (6 more months) we can try this again :)!  Although I am sure that his hair will grow a lot faster this time since we didn't get it cut as short!  Matthew and I just looked at each other and shook our heads, there was nothing else we could do :)!
So those are our grand adventures from the past few weeks, now we are off to Seattle to see my family and then Matthew and I are taking a cruise to Alaska and leaving Cayden with Grandma and Grandpa De Yager!  We are so excited, this will be our first time vacationing alone since our honeymoon five years ago!  Pictures to come!!!

Wow, the pictures on your camera are so great! I especially like the one of Cayden looking through the railing, nice colors. :)
