God is Faithful!

I received this e-mail from my dad this morning and once again helped put things in perspective as I know my family is still grieving along with Shaun and Courtney at the loss of Zachary. Today marks the day where one month ago I lost my first nephew.  Someone I never had the chance to meet here on earth but I am definitely more excited to go to heaven so I can meet him and snuggle his cute little self!  I was going to write my own post but realized that my dad and his great words of wisdom did a lot better job at wording how I feel.  Here is his e-mail that he wrote to his colleagues, family, and friends:

Colleagues and Friends,

One month ago today (May 17) our family received the news that Zachary Michael, our 2^nd grandchild, was called to his eternal home (early, according to our standards)…now, on the day that would be his 1-month birthday, we continue experiencing God’s faithfulness…his strong arms have held us and have carried us through the deep dark nights…we also believe he continues to carry us over some of the valleys and he has parted the clouds from time to time to graciously allow us to see glimpses of his eternal perspective…the pain is deep and the grieving continues…we’re continuously amazed at all the little things that come up in our daily lives (a song, a comment, a radio program, riding past a park, personal and family devotions, the ‘class of 2009’ slide show) that bring a flood of tears, force us to contemplate the same questions, and put us back on our knees in prayer, but we KNOW that God will continue to prepare us for each step of the journey…we continue to be amazed at how the memory of  Zachary’s life continues to draw so many to closer relationships with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  We are becoming even more aware of the precious gift of abundant life we have in Christ.

 

Shaun and Courtney continue to stand on and grow in their faith as they walk this very, very difficult journey …as parents and family, we’re so grateful for each of them and their faith, but, there are so many times we feel so inadequate as we walk the journey with them. 

 

To the SCS community: on behalf of Courtney & Shaun, Diane and myself and our entire family, THANK YOU for your consistent prayers, your hugs, all the beautiful flowers, your cards, your presence…as the Lord leads you, keep praying…we’re going to continue to keep trusting that our loving, amazing God will continue to be faithful!

Wow! I am so much more thankful for my family and the faith that they have more than ever!  It is comforting to know that our whole family will meet Zachary one day and that through his little life that God created, others will get to meet him as well!  Please continue to pray for Shaun and Courtney especially today as they remember back to one month ago!  We love you Shaun and Courtney!!!!
