Time to Start Baby Proofing!!

So for those of you who don't know what baby proofing is, it is when you take all your pretty decorations off the shelves where a baby can reach. You have to make sure the outlets are covered and that there are no random cords laying around. The reason I say all of these things is because Cayden has begun to crawl. Crazy huh? We are kind of in shock ourselves as we thought we still had a couple of months. It seemed to come overnight as we woke up one morning and he crawled after a balloon. So his crawling is kind of wobbly but he is seeming to get the motions down and definitely makes it to where he wants to. Sometimes he doesn't know how to stop and will run into the couch or the wall or any other unmovable object :)! Cayden's world has now gotten bigger and he likes to explore everything, there have been a lot of "nos" the past couple of days. Even though this makes it quite a bit more busy for us, it is so fun to watch him develop into a little boy (who has a mind of his own!). We have some videos of it so we will try to post it sometime! So that is the big news for the week. We are off to visit family and friends in Iowa for the next couple of weeks. We are looking forward to a break as Matthew is now done with school for the summer! We will try to keep you updated along the way!

New (Old) Video on our Smugmug!

Just a quick post to let you know that we now have a number of short video clips on our smugmug page. As the title reflects, while they are new to smugmug, they are primarily of Cayden's early days. If you have seen him or pictures of him recently, you will be as amazed as we are at how much our little guy has changed in just 5 months! If you are interested, just click on the smugmug link down and to the left. Then, on our smugmug webpage, click on the video time gallery! I'll try to continue to update the video collection as well. Enjoy!

Happy Father's Day!

We wanted to say "Happy Father's Day" to both our fathers. They both have been such influential parts in our lives. Their living example of faith has inspired both Matthew and I so much and we are so thankful that God gave us great Dads! We love you both!

This also marks Matthew's first Father's Day. He is a wonderful Dad to Cayden and Cayden loves him so much! It is awesome to see that when Matthew comes home at the end of the day (and if Cayden is still up) he greets Matthew with a huge smile! So fun! Happy Father's Day Matthew, we love you!

5 Months!!!!

Wow! Cayden is now 5 months old! My has the time flown by, we have been looking back at pictures recently and wonder where our little baby has gone to. He looks so different then when we brought him home from the hospital and our lives have definitely changed a ton. Cayden has become so active and always wants to be moving. I am afraid we may have our hands full when he starts crawling and walking. Speaking of crawling, Cayden continues to try to crawl and is getting closer. He can scoot himself from point A to point B and may take some time but he is so determined to get what he wants!
Cayden is now consistently sleeping through the night, yea! What a relief and now it is strange when he wakes up in the middle of the night, what a good change! Another recent change in the past couple of weeks Cayden has a new bedtime of anywhere between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. There are those exceptions when we may be out and about but for the most part this has been consistent.
This past weekend our friends are house sitting and were kind enough to have us over there on Saturday and Sunday afternoon to swim in their awesome swimming pool. It was so nice to be able to take Cayden in a private pool with not so many people around. He was actually enjoying himself. We had a great time hanging out, barbecuing, roasting smores over the fire, and hanging out with our friends!
Matthew officially has two more classes (2 more Monday nights) until he is done for the summer. He will however be starting his year long internship on July 10, so he will have yet another schedule change.
I heard some great news from my cousin, Kelli, today. Her and her husband Mark found out that they finally received a referral to adopt a baby girl from Ethiopia! Her name is Ruby Grace Ten Haken, can't wait to see pictures! After months of waiting, we praise God that there is an end in sight until they get to bring their baby home!

To see all the new pictures we have posted the most recent ones on our smugmug! Oh and thanks for the prayers, Cayden is doing much better as the antibiotics have kicked in!!

Sick Baby :(

Cayden officially has his first ear infection :(. He has been abnormally fussy the past couple of days and we noticed that when he would cry he would grab at his ear. So we made a doctor's appointment and found out that indeed he does have an ear infection. At least he kind of let us know! Now he is on the good old bubble gum medicine (amoxycillin) for the next 10 days. He doesn't really appreciate us sticking in his mouth but I am sure after 10 days he will get used to the taste. I am pretty sure I loved that medicine when I was growing up! So after our busy week last week we are getting Cayden back on his schedule and his new bed time recently has been 8:00 pm! So nice to have the evening to ourselves to do whatever we want! So if you could say a little prayer for Cayden we would really appreciate it! Love you all!
